Glochidial Infestation
Symptoms:

Fish that have a Glochidial infestation present with gray edges on the fins and or gills. These symptoms can be quite obvious and pronounced in severely infected fish.

Cause:

The larval stages of freshwater mussels such as Unio and Anodonta.

Treatment:

No specific treatment against these larvae is currently recognized. Fortunately, however, this disease is not dangerous. To prevent future infestations, remove adult mussels from the tank while they are shedding their larvae during the summer months and return them in the fall.
